We bring together three versatile artists who move freely between literature, screenwriting and directing to talk about the fate of the written word in the age of the image. Having written for the page and the screen, our three guests, Panagiotis Evangelidis, Nikos Panagiotopoulos and Kallia Papadaki, are called to answer an urgent question: What’s the beating heart of storytelling today? At a time when dozens of platforms claim our money and time with the promise of endless audiovisual content, can literature still compete for our attention as a medium or has it been reduced to a mere source of inspiration for filmmakers? Are bloated TV series challenging novels as the primary source for long-form narratives? Is the written word still the main tool for artists grappling with the complexities of our times or is it finally time to recognize the supremacy of the image? Our guide through this journey will be Yannis Economides, a dedicated filmmaker known for methodically constructing the Greek narrative of the early 21st century.
