Alexandra Tranta
Alexandra Tranta is the literary executor of Menis Koumandareas (1931-2014), an acclaimed writer and consummate chronicler of the city of Athens, where he was born and raised. Between 1962 and 2014, Koumandareas wrote 23 books of fiction and one stage play, translated the works of prominent international writers, and received numerous honors from the Greek state and major literary institutions. His last novel, The Desert Siren, was published posthumously in 2015. Since the writer’s tragic death in 2014, Alexandra Tranta has been responsible for editing and publishing his books and promoting his work. She has a PhD in Archaeology and Museum Studies and has produced impactful research and academic work. She is also a seasoned museum curator and cultural event organizer.
