Vivi Georgantopoulou
For over two decades, Vivi Georgantopoulou has been committed to fostering new generations of passionate readers and promoting the love of reading. To spread and expand her vision, she founded and coordinated a large network of curious and dynamic book clubs, leading the charge in what has become a book club boom, with over 300 reading groups active in Greece today. Born in Athens, Georgantopoulou studied Law, European Culture and Comparative Literature and worked as a jewelry maker and the owner of the book café “Degas”. It was 2004 when she first got involved with book clubs, starting with the “Degas book club”. She went on to found other traditional and digital book clubs, acting as coordinator or working closely with other coordinators. Today, she runs a book criticism website and manages a bibliophilic network of four book clubs that freely share members, operating as cross-pollinating reading hubs. Since 2022, she has been a founding member of the Coordinating Committee of the Greek Book Club Association, an independent partnership between Greek book clubs that developed spontaneously out of a need to pool experience and resources towards a common goal: nurturing the love of reading at a time when it faces increased challenges. The past few years, she has also been the heart and soul behind the first experiential Creative Reading workshop for adults in Greece, immersing participants into the beauty and joy of literature and helping them discover or rekindle their love of reading.
